The Thuthuka Programme of the National Research Foundation (NRF) aims to develop human capital and improve the research capabilities of designated researchers (Black: African, Indian and Coloured], female or disabled) within the ultimate aim of redressing historical imbalances. The categories available are student assistantships, postgraduate bursaries, postdoctoral fellowships and staff development grants.
