Call for proposals – Competitive Programme for Rated Researchers

The call for proposals for the National Research Fund (NRF) Competitive Programme for Rated Researchers is now open. The programme is a discipline-based funding instrument, which supports basic research in the disciplines of the humanities, as well as the social and natural sciences.     

The objectives of the funding instrument are to: 

  • Contribute to the development of a sound fundamental basis to science and scholarly endeavour in South Africa, in the humanities, natural and social science disciplines;
  • Contribute to knowledge production across the research spectrum and innovation value chain;
  • Achieve world-class research and the associated human capacity; and
  • Advance or develop paradigms, theories and methodological innovation across the research spectrum. 

New applicants are invited to submit applications electronically via the NRF Online Submission System. Only oneapplication per principal investigator is permitted. Additional applications will not be considered.  Applicants who qualified for funding in the 2011 call for proposals, but were not supported due to budgetary constraints, are encouraged to resubmit updated proposals.

The deadline for applications is 30 September 2013.
