Spanish delegation visits CSIR

The CSIR hosted a Spanish delegation at the NLC on the 16 October 2013. This was as a result of a request from TIA.

In attendance at the meeting was Francois Prinsloo, Themba Belle (CSIR), Tebogo Seseng (TIA) and the Spanish delegation led by Mr Juan Carlos Cortes, CDTI. The delegation was welcomed by Francois Prinsloo and Themba Belle provided a CSIR overview.

There after the delegation was taken through a tour of some of the facilities at the NLC.

The delegation were impressed by what they saw.

Areas of interest

Nuclear

CSP – one delegate expressed a desire to meet somebody from the CSIR dealing with CSP and was linked to Thomas Roos.

Biotechnology, food process

Road pavement, traffic lights and engineering

Lasers

Partnering on Horison 2020

One of the delegates extended an invitation for the CSIR to visit his centre (AINIA). The centre deals with food technology, biotechnology, nanotechnology, electronics and communication, chemical technologies and environmental and energetic technologies.  Will follow up with an email.

 Way forward

The delegates are going to be forwarding a list of their areas of interest through Tebogo Seseng from TIA. to our offices.

Our office will then be able to direct the enquiry to the appropriate CSIR unit.

A Spanish liaison office has been established in Johannesburg that will champion future activities on local interest from Spain. This office intends to arrange some time for a CSIR visit to relevant units.
