The CSIR hosted a Spanish delegation at the NLC on the 16 October 2013. This was as a result of a request from TIA.<\/p>\n
In attendance at the meeting was\u00a0Francois Prinsloo, Themba Belle (CSIR), Tebogo Seseng (TIA) and the Spanish delegation led by Mr Juan Carlos Cortes, CDTI. The delegation was welcomed by Francois Prinsloo and Themba Belle provided a CSIR overview.<\/p>\n
There after the delegation was taken through a tour of some of the facilities at the NLC.<\/p>\n
The delegation were impressed by what they saw.<\/p>\n
Areas of interest<\/strong><\/p>\n Nuclear<\/p>\n CSP – one delegate\u00a0expressed a desire to meet somebody from the CSIR dealing with CSP and was linked to Thomas Roos.<\/p>\n Biotechnology, food process<\/p>\n Road pavement, traffic lights and engineering<\/p>\n Lasers<\/p>\n Partnering on Horison 2020<\/p>\n One of the delegates extended an invitation for the CSIR to visit his centre (AINIA). The centre deals with food technology, biotechnology, nanotechnology, electronics and communication, chemical technologies and environmental and energetic technologies.\u00a0 Will follow up with an email.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/strong>Way forward<\/strong><\/p>\n The delegates are going to be forwarding a list of their areas of interest through Tebogo Seseng from TIA. to our offices.<\/p>\n Our office will then be able to direct the enquiry to the appropriate CSIR unit.<\/p>\n A Spanish liaison office has been established in Johannesburg that will\u00a0champion future activities on\u00a0local interest from Spain.
