The CSIR visit to Sasol: 12 August 2010

A CSIR team recently attended a Technical Workshop, Pilot Plant visit, and Steering Committee meeting, hosted at the Sasol offices in Sasolburg. The purpose of the workshop was to finalise specific areas of collaboration, highlighted as priority areas by Sasol. As a second part to the day-long visit, the CSIR/Sasol Steering Committee also signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which intends to strengthen the strategic relationship between the two institutions.

Key areas of discussion include:

      1. Water
      2. Environmental research
      3. Energy

Human Capital Development (HCD), will be a standing Agenda item in future Steering Committee meetings. A session will be arranged where CSIR and SASOL on HCD.

Way Forward

Both organizations agreed that there is a need to indentify the work that the two institutions want to carry out and place resources accordingly.
