Call for proposals: create and manage sector-specific innovation funds. Closing date: Friday, 16 August 2013 at 15:00

The Department of Science and Technology is encouraging industry innovation partnerships as part of a broader government effort to support industry competitiveness. The main objective is to create an environment where government can effectively partner with industry and support co-investments in research, development and innovation (RDI) in key strategic sectors of the economy.

The requirement for structured innovation partnerships is premised on the need to stimulate increased co-funding and participation by industry players in RDI. The key focus will be on improving competitiveness of strategic sectors of the South African economy, addressing local needs but with increased export market share in mind where applicable.
Interested industry associations or formations representing various economic sectors or sub-sectors are invited to submit partnership proposals to create and manage sector-specific innovation funds. Completed forms must be emailed to sector-innovation@dst.gov.za.

The closing date for applications is Friday, 16 August 2013 at 15:00.
